This year we took a trip out to Victoria. We flew out, which was Brooklyn's first plane ride. It was Jenna's second time on the plane, but she was only 1 the first time, so I don't know that she remembers too much.

We had a great time. The 2nd day we hung around the harbor, visiting the Royal BC Museum, the Wax Museum, and taking a carriage ride through James Bay. On Tuesday, we visited Craigdarroch Castle, and the Fort Rodd Hill Historic Site. We also spent some time at a couple of different spots along the coast where we enjoyed the view of the mountains and ocean.

On Wednesday, we ventured out to the Victoria Butterfly Gardens and Buchart Gardens. Buchart Gardens was amazing. I could have spent a lot more time there, but it was very busy and the girls were getting pretty worn out. We drove around the Island for most of the afternoon, letting the girls have a sleep. Around supper time we took the Ferry from Brentwood Bay to Mills Bay. We stopped at Shawnigan Lake, which was a great lake. Billy and Jenna played in the water a bit, but I was willing to watch from the sidelines.

It was a great time. I would like go back again. There were some pretty nice hotels along the harbor that looked pretty relaxing. Maybe someday...

I hope this link works. It is much quicker and I can put way more pictures on.

Canada Day 2008!

Anything Jenna can do, Brooklyn will certainly give it a shot!

Their favorite supper - Grilled Cheese and Milkshakes!

Kananaskis and Camping

Whew, did June fly by. We had a trip to Kananaskis in early June. The girls joined us for one night and then they stayed with Grandma Marsha for two nights. The girls had a great time and loved getting spoiled by Grandma. I did manage to get a few pictures before they left. Jenna was really into striking a pose that day.

We also took our first camping trip. It was one night at Ol Macdonald Resort. We went out to visit our friends Cher and Jeff. Jenna had a wonderful time with their son Jared. Both girls also took a pretty special liking to Rascal, the puppy. We slept in the tent and except for being a bit cold, we all did pretty well. I think that we will attempt a few more one night camping trips. However, as long as it is in a tent, I think one night is all that I can handle.

Preschool Graduation

Jenna was in preschool this year and celebrated her last day on May 31. The kids sang a couple of songs, got a special book made by their teacher, and then played in bouncy houses. Despite the lack of smile in Jenna's picture with her teacher, she really did have a good time. She is just very shy.
Here we are, almost half way through 2008! I returned to work mid-March and things have gotten very busy since then. We were very fortunate to find a wonderful dayhome. The girls are adjusting very well. I work three days a week so it is just enough time for them to play with their friends. However, it sure is a lot more working getting two kids off to the dayhome rather than just one.
Jenna is really turning in to a very busy young girl. In fact it is important to keep her busy in productive ways because when she has to resort to entertaining herself, things can get pretty messy - literly. She loves doing crafts, playing games, helping in the kitchen, and playing outside. She got a new bike this spring and is learning to ride the big girl bike. It is not as easy going as the tricyle but she was getting a little big for the tricycle.

Brooklyn is also very busy. She loves to get outside. If you tell her its time to go outside she runs and gets her shoes. Brooklyn loves wagon rides to the playground or just running around in the backyard. The girls got little watering cans the other day so they have both been busy watering.

Here are a few pictures since the last post.

New Family Past Time

We have gone bowling a couple of times and Jenna loves it. The bowling alley in Leduc is great because it is not too busy so we have lots of room. And Brooklyn crawls and walks all over, so at least she is not getting bothering anyone else.

Brooklyn turns ONE!

Happy Birthday Brooklyn! This lucky girl actually had two cakes - one when Grandma came to visit, and then again on her real birthday. Good thing Jenna was around to show her how to blow out the candles and open presents. The birthday festivities did not seem to phase Brooklyn.
